Unboxing & Safety

In the box, you'll find your MOD Dwarf, a power supply, and a USB cable. Before you plug anything in, read through the safety notes below — they cover the handful of things that can actually damage the unit or your other gear.

Fire, shock, and product damage

  • Don't expose the Dwarf to rain, moisture, dripping, or splashing, and keep liquid-filled objects (like drinks) away from it.
  • Only use accessories approved by the manufacturer.
  • Don't open the enclosure. There are no user-repairable parts inside — leave service to trained personnel.

Audio outputs

  • Always mute or turn down connected equipment before plugging anything into the Dwarf's audio or headphone outputs.
  • The Dwarf can output loud signals through the audio and headphone outputs. Check that your downstream gear can handle the output level before you connect it.
  • High volume levels can damage your hearing — keep an eye on output volume as you set up.

Power adapter

  • The adapter is for indoor use only.
  • Give it space to ventilate — don't box it in or cover it with curtains or other objects, to avoid overheating.
  • Use the supplied adapter only. It outputs 12V, 2A over a center-positive barrel plug (Φ5.5×2.1×10mm).

What affects power draw

The Dwarf's own power draw is fixed, but anything you connect to the USB Host port adds to it — a USB hub with multiple MIDI controllers attached, for instance, pulls more power than the Dwarf alone. Using the supplied power supply keeps you covered for any combination of peripherals you're likely to connect.
